Inside My Nest

The Story Behind the Name “Inside My Nest”

Grounded in the Islamic concept of Tawhid–The Absolute Oneness of God–and inspired by the elegance of Islamic geometric art, InsideMyNest offers more than creative expression — it offers a spiral inward:

🌀 Geometry, Tawhid & the Sacred Spiral of Creation

In a world filled with noise and motion, there is something deeply comforting about the quiet image of a bird’s nest. Made from scattered twigs and leaves, each nest is a shelter, a cradle, a work of instinctive design. But it is also more than that. It is a reflection of divine wisdom, woven into nature.

At Inside My Nest, this small symbol speaks volumes. The nest becomes a metaphor for unity, sacred space, and the unseen order of the universe — all central concepts in Islamic theology, philosophy and sacred geometry.

🌿 Tawhid in Form: Unity in Diversity

At the core of Islamic belief lies Tawhid—the oneness and unity of God. And yet, when we look at creation, we see diversity: countless forms, colours, and beings. How can such multiplicity express unity?

The nest offers a gentle answer. Each twig, leaf, feather, and fragment is different—yet all are drawn together to form one home. In the same way, all beings and elements in the universe are diverse, but they reflect and serve the singular reality of the Creator. Just as the nest is one form made of many, the cosmos is a tapestry of multiplicity that ultimately reveals divine unity.

⚫️ The Circle & the Spiral: Returning to the Centre

The shape of a nest is not random. It is almost always circular — a form rich in symbolism across Islamic tradition. In the ritual of Tawaf during Hajj, pilgrims circle the Kaaba, the spiritual centre of the world. This movement is mirrored in the orbits of planets, the spiral of galaxies, even the way a bird circles before landing. Everything in creation moves in orbits, spirals, and cycles — all signs pointing back to the divine centre.

The nest, too, is a circle. It holds life at its centre, just as all existence is drawn back to its Source. It is a quiet reminder that everything circumambulates around God’s command — a still centre amid the motion of the world.

📐 Divine Mathematics: The Geometry of the Natural World

Islamic geometric patterns—those intricate mosaics seen in mosques, tiles, and manuscripts—are more than decoration. They are meditative expressions of divine order. They reflect a universe governed by balance, repetition, and harmony.

Nature follows the same principles.

From the hexagonal cells of a honeycomb to the Fibonacci spirals in sunflower seeds, from the nesting habits of birds to the orbit of stars—everything follows form.

In the humble nest, we see the same order. A bird gathers from its surroundings and constructs a haven that is both functional and symbolic.

🌌 From Nest to Cosmos

The nest teaches us that sacredness is woven into the ordinary. What may appear as a small object in nature is in fact a cosmic symbol—a small echo of the universal laws that govern existence.

🪹 A Place of Stillness

The nest is not only a geometric marvel—it is a place of rest and renewal. Within it, life begins, growth unfolds. There is stillness, but also transformation. Likewise, we each carry a spiritual “nest” within—a place to return, reflect, and reconnect.

In Islamic thought, the heart (qalb) is the centre of spiritual perception. It is there we turn inward, reflect, and remember. In the rush of the world, we are called to retreat inward, to remember the Divine Centre, and to live in harmony with the order that surrounds us.
